Postpartum & Newborn Midwifery Care Program

We are excited to offer this new program!

Additional postpartum and newborn visits are available after you and baby are discharged from hospital.

You can be referred by a Health Care Provider or you can self refer to this program. 

You may benefit from this program if:

  • You and your baby do not have a family doctor or pediatrician 

  • You require additional support with breastfeeding, weight checks or bilirubin monitoring 

  • You do not have Ontario Health Insurance 

  • Your health care providers suggest it for you and your baby 

Typically, Midwives will see you 2-3 times in the first week in hospital or at home.  Appointments are then scheduled at Midwifery Services of Lambton Kent for 2, 4, and 6 weeks after delivery.  These appointments include well baby assessment including weights and bilirubin monitoring if needed, breastfeeding assistance and advice and maternal health assessment. 

You do not require OHIP to access these services.  There is no cost for this service.
